Harris County District Attorney Kenneth Magidson and his Asset Forfeiture Fund of the Harris County DA's Office has awarded $50,805.00 to the Humble ISD Police Department. This money will be used for the purchase of new mobile police radios and mobile computer systems for 5 of the Humble ISD Police cars and bullet-proof vests to be issued to those officers who currently do not have a vest.  Money comes from the DA’s share of assets seized from illegal enterprises such as drug dealing, prostitution and gambling.

    Sr. Officer S. Sharp began work on this grant in Mid October, 2008.  The news of the award of this badly needed funding came just a couple of short weeks later.  The Officers and staff of the Humble ISD Police Department would like to extend our deepest thanks to Karen Morris, Asset Forfeitures Division Chief and District Attorney Magidson of The Harris County DA's Office for you attention and assistance with this grant.  We firmly believe that this is a very large step in the continued growth of the Humble ISD Police Department.

    Magidson noted that use of the fund effectively means that criminals themselves are paying for the tools and improvements to catch and prosecute them.

    Another benefit is that taxpayers are not saddled with the costs. Local governments gain overdue upgrades without having to resort to tax increases.
